Current LAGIC thesis package দিয়ে শুরু করুন

University of Jyväskylä-এর Language, Globalization and Intercultural Communication programme, অর্থাৎ LAGIC-এর current 2024–2028 Study Guide-এ research ও thesis block স্পষ্টভাবে defined। Compulsory 45 ECTS Methodology and Research package হলো KVVS012 Qualitative Research Methodology 5 ECTS, KVVS013 Quantitative Research Methodology 5 ECTS, LACS1000 Thesis Seminar 5 ECTS, LACS1002 Master’s Thesis 30 ECTS এবং LACS9999 Maturity Test 0 ECTS।

Thesis planning-এর base হিসেবে এই code-গুলো use করুন। Internship ও project-work course Working Life Skills-এর অংশ, formal thesis নয়। XENB0007 Master’s Thesis Support writing support দিতে পারে, কিন্তু এটি compulsory 45 ECTS LAGIC research block-এর অংশ নয়।

Programme, degree ও department

LAGIC হলো Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences-এর দুই বছরের English-language Master of Arts programme। Current degree object হলো LACMP2024 এবং coordinating unit Department of Language and Communication Studies। Finnish Study Guide-ও Filosofian maisteri title দিয়ে Master of Arts qualification independently confirm করে।

Advanced-studies module LACSYV 105+ ECTS এবং applied language studies, intercultural communication, globalization, working-life competence ও strong methodology combine করে। তবে thesis-এর ক্ষেত্রে exact LACS ও KVVS research-course object follow করুন, অন্য Humanities programme-এর rule import করবেন না।

Qualitative ও quantitative দুটো methodology course compulsory

LAGIC-এ KVVS012 Qualitative Research Methodology এবং KVVS013 Quantitative Research Methodology দুটোই compulsory। প্রতিটি 5 ECTS advanced course, grading 0–5 এবং English-এ taught। Thesis design final করার আগে different methodological tradition সম্পর্কে competence তৈরি করার জন্য এটি programme-এর গুরুত্বপূর্ণ feature।

কিন্তু এখান থেকে ভুল conclusion নেওয়া যাবে না। দুটো course complete করা মানে every LAGIC thesis-এ mixed methods বা দুই ধরনের data লাগবেই এমন নয়। LACS1002 research question বা work objective-এর সঙ্গে fit করা method বা perspective choose ও justify করতে বলে।

KVVS012: qualitative research competence

KVVS012 qualitative research-এর foundation, data collection ও analysis method এবং qualitative research process শেখায়। Student method ও underlying paradigm-এর connection, qualitative research-এর assumption, data gathering/analysis option এবং qualitative material collect, analyse ও interpret করার practice করে।

Course methodological justification ও research ethics-ও explicit করে। LAGIC thesis-এ interview, discourse material, observation, document, online interaction বা অন্য qualitative source use করলে শুধু convenient technique choose করলেই হবে না। Method কী ধরনের knowledge produce করে এবং সেটা research problem-এর সঙ্গে কেন fit করে তা explain করতে হবে।

KVVS013: quantitative research competence

KVVS013 social-scientific research-এ use করা quantitative method-এর basic-to-intermediate treatment দেয়। Descriptive ও inferential statistical concept, hypothesis test ও research question answer করতে quantitative method, এবং quantitative data collect, analyse ও interpret করা এখানে covered। General methodology ও ethics-ও course-এর অংশ।

Survey, corpus, experimental বা অন্য numerical design-এর জন্য এই competence useful হতে পারে। কিন্তু every LAGIC thesis-এ inferential statistics mandatory নয়। Research task-এর সঙ্গে fit করলে theoretical, qualitative, literature-review বা multiform thesis-ও valid হতে পারে।

Universal mixed-methods requirement invent করবেন না

দুই methodology course compulsory হওয়ায় LAGIC student mixed-method design evaluate করার ভালো foundation পায়। কিন্তু current thesis rule বলে না যে every student-কে qualitative ও quantitative evidence combine করতেই হবে। Interview, survey, inferential statistics বা এক named software package-ও universal requirement নয়।

Research problem দিয়ে শুরু করুন। কী evidence প্রয়োজন decide করে সেই question credibly answer করতে পারে এমন method choose করুন। Mixed-method সত্যিই দরকার হলে integration logic explain করুন। এক methodology যথেষ্ট হলে শুধু thesis complex দেখানোর জন্য দ্বিতীয় method add করবেন না।

LACS1000 Thesis Seminar formal thesis process শুরু করে

JYU LAGIC guidance অনুযায়ী Master’s Thesis শুরু হয় LACS1000 Thesis Seminar attend করার মাধ্যমে। Seminar first study year-এর period 4-এ শুরু হয় এবং second study year-এর period 1 পর্যন্ত চলে। LACS1000 5 ECTS advanced studies, English-এ taught এবং grading 0–5।

Seminar আলাদা presentation course নয়; এটি MA thesis process support করার জন্য designed। Scientific work, process writing, critical/theoretical thinking, argumentation, information searching এবং constructive feedback দেওয়া-নেওয়ার skill develop করে।

LACS1000-এ কী করতে হয়

Student supervisor-এর সঙ্গে agreed topic-এর research proposal বা work plan draft করে, সেই plan অনুযায়ী MA thesis develop করে, বিভিন্ন stage-এ project present করে এবং peer project-এ feedback দেয়। Passing-এর জন্য minimum 80% attendance, proposal/work plan এবং agreed schedule maintain করা required।

যে decision পরে change করা কঠিন হবে তা seminar-এ early test করুন: scope, research question, theoretical frame, evidence, method, ethics, data management ও timetable। Strong seminar process late-stage major redesign কমায়।

LACS1002 হলো formal 30 ECTS thesis

Formal LAGIC thesis হলো LACS1002 Master’s Thesis, 30 ECTS। এটি advanced studies, grading 0–5, English-এ complete হয় এবং independent work with supervision হিসেবে করা হয়। Current 2026–2027 implementation 1 August 2026 থেকে 31 July 2027।

Learning outcomes relevant/delimited topic, research question বা work objective, independent information retrieval, previous research-এর critical use, defined concept, appropriate data বা work sample, suitable method/perspective, structured result, theoretical framework-এর সঙ্গে critical relation, scientific writing, professional reporting, process management ও research ethics require করে।

Department research-এর সঙ্গে connected topic choose করুন

LAGIC student-কে thesis topic independently choose করার freedom দেয়, কিন্তু JYU বলছে topic Department of Language and Communication Studies-এর research focus area-এর সঙ্গে connected হওয়া উচিত। Supervisor পুরো process-এ guide ও support করেন।

Multilingualism, migration, discourse, media, intercultural interaction বা globalization-এর মতো broad interest এখনও thesis topic নয়। Defined context, evidence source ও analytical perspective সহ researchable problem-এ narrow করুন এবং seminar/supervisor দিয়ে scope realistic কি না test করুন।

Thesis form 1: research-oriented report

LAGIC-এর প্রথম explicitly recognised thesis form হলো research-oriented report, অর্থাৎ limited research project-এর ওপর traditional thesis। এটি field-এর concept ও method use করে research problem বা question investigate করে। Assignment theoretical বা empirical হতে পারে, previous course work থেকে develop হতে পারে বা larger departmental research project-এর অংশ হতে পারে।

এই form-এও field expertise, clearly defined research question এবং appropriate scientific method required। “Traditional” মানে generic template নয়; research design justify করতেই হবে।

Thesis form 2: literature review

LAGIC literature review-কে master’s thesis form হিসেবে explicitly allow করে। Programme এটি field বা defined research problem নিয়ে written/other relevant source-এর critical evaluation ও summary হিসেবে describe করে। Field theory/method সম্পর্কে familiarity এবং particular point of view থেকে research information analyse/evaluate করার ability দরকার।

তাই literature-review thesis article-এর descriptive list নয়। Defined question, relevant literature identify/evaluate করার defensible process, analytical organisation এবং critical synthesis থাকতে হবে।

Thesis form 3: multiform thesis

তৃতীয় explicit option হলো multiform thesis। JYU অনুযায়ী এতে text, artistic production, translation assignment, professional text, pedagogical material, teaching experiment, teaching material development বা professional practice evaluation/development থাকতে পারে। LACS1002-ও multi-format thesis-এর জন্য conventional data/method wording-এর বদলে appropriate work sample ও research perspective allow করে।

Multiform thesis-ও academic research work। এতে theoretical component, justified practical task-এর report এবং work process reflection থাকে, এবং theoretical framework ও previous research practical task-এ apply করতে হয়।

Practical artefact compulsory নয়

Multiform thesis available হওয়া মানে সব LAGIC student-এর practical artefact লাগবে এমন নয়। Research-oriented report ও literature review equally explicit option। একইভাবে KVVS802 Internship ও LACS1016 Project Work separate Working Life Skills course, LACS1002-এর substitute নয়।

Intellectual problem, evidence ও professional objective-এর সঙ্গে best fit করা form choose করুন। কম writing লাগবে মনে করে multiform thesis choose করবেন না; theory, research, justification ও reflection এখনও required।

Universal word count বা page count stated নেই

Current registered LAGIC source তিন permitted thesis form-এর জন্য এক universal word count বা page count দেয় না। Conventional empirical report, literature review এবং multiform thesis-এর structural need আলাদা হতে পারে বলে এটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।

Practical formatting ও scale-এর জন্য current faculty template, seminar এবং supervisor guidance use করুন। অন্য university/programme-এর unofficial number-কে LAGIC rule হিসেবে present করবেন না।

HYTK assessment matrix grading control করে

LAGIC Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences-এর master’s-thesis evaluation matrix use করে, যা 1 August 2024 থেকে effective। Thesis whole হিসেবে research topic, research design/question, research framework, data/methods, analysis, result presentation/reflection, thesis as text এবং process management/independent work-এ assess হয়।

Accepted thesis grade 1–5 এবং অন্তত thesis learning outcomes ও grade-1 criteria meet করতে হয়। পুরো research process-এ good scientific practice ও research ethics-ও required।

Stronger HYTK work কেমন

Higher-quality work research problem, framework, evidence ও method-কে separate chapter হিসেবে না দেখে aligned system হিসেবে তৈরি করে। Matrix methodological choice justify করতে এবং method research objective-এর সঙ্গে fit করতে expect করে। Analysis systematic হতে হবে এবং result research question, theoretical frame ও previous study-এর সঙ্গে critically relate করতে হবে।

Multiform thesis-এ practical task-এর theory/previous research-এর সঙ্গে academically defensible relation দরকার। Literature review-এ analytical/evaluative logic visible হতে হবে। Form change হয়, scholarly coherence-এর demand change হয় না।

Final review-এর আগে preliminary review mandatory

LAGIC-এর programme-specific two-stage review workflow আছে। Final review submit করার আগে thesis preliminary review-এর মধ্য দিয়ে যেতে হবে। JYU অনুযায়ী main/subchapter complete এবং title page, abstract, table of contents, bibliography ও applicable appendix included হলে manuscript preliminary review-এর জন্য ready। Abstract page-এ 3–5 keyword recommend করা হয়।

এটি final Vasara submission নয়। Preliminary review হলো formal examination-এর আগে controlled revision stage।

Preliminary review-এ কী হয়

Preliminary review-এর জন্য student received instruction অনুযায়ী manuscript advisor-কে দেয়। এই stage-এই Turnitin plagiarism check হয়। Supervisor thesis পড়ে feedback দেন, এবং কিছু ক্ষেত্রে second supervisor বা future examiner-ও পড়তে পারেন।

Feedback-এর পরে student revise করতে পারে যতক্ষণ student ও supervisor agree করে যে thesis final review-এর জন্য ready। Formal LAGIC process-এ এটি শেষ major revision window, তাই argument, method, analysis, reference, structure ও presentation problem এখানে resolve করুন।

Final review Vasara-তে হয়

Preliminary review complete এবং thesis ready হলে final review Vasara দিয়ে submit করা হয়। Student-এর supervisor-এর পাশাপাশি second examiner thesis review করেন। Examiner Vasara-তে officially assigned হন এবং submission-এর এক মাসের মধ্যে evaluation statement ও grade recommendation তৈরি করেন। HYTK common evaluation matrix assessment control করে।

General JYU submission rule অনুযায়ী final version, Sisu-তে thesis ও maturity-এর correct registration এবং accessible PDF/A দরকার। Confidential background material public thesis থেকে remove করতে হবে।

Examiner report-এর পরে 14 দিন পর্যন্ত response window

Examiner report ready হলে student email notification পায় এবং Vasara-তে assessment statement ও proposed grade accept করার জন্য 14 দিন পর্যন্ত সময় পায়। Accept না করে response submit বা assessment process abort request করা যায়। Response-এর পরে rectification request-এর option-ও থাকে।

Student assessment accept করলে LAGIC operational workflow অনুযায়ী department-এর deputy director responsible for education thesis approve ও grade assign করেন। University Degree Regulations formal grading authority dean-এর সঙ্গে রাখে; department page operational workflow explain করে।

LACS9999 Maturity Test: default abstract route

LACS9999 Maturity Test 0 ECTS এবং grading Pass/Fail। English, Finnish ও Swedish-এ available। Default LAGIC route-এ master’s thesis-এর শুরুতে থাকা abstract maturity examination হিসেবে কাজ করে এবং separate language evaluation লাগে না। Thesis grade Sisu-তে register হলে maturity PASS সাধারণত একই date-এ register হয়।

Required language proficiency আগে demonstrate করা student-এর জন্য এটি standard route।

Maturity language exception

LACS9999 এমন student-এর exception define করে যার school education Finnish বা Swedish-এ ছিল কিন্তু earlier maturity process-এর মাধ্যমে required language competence demonstrate করা হয়নি। তখন actual-exam ও language-checking route follow করতে হয় এবং content ও language দুটিতেই pass দরকার।

নিজের language-history ও current LACS9999 implementation check না করে অন্য student-এর maturity route copy করবেন না।

JYU regulation অনুযায়ী supervisor ও examiner rights

JYU Degree Regulations অনুযায়ী supervisor-in-charge-এর doctoral degree ও JYU employment relationship থাকতে হবে। Dean দুই examiner nominate করেন; অন্তত একজনের doctoral degree থাকতে হবে এবং second examiner thesis supervisor হতে পারেন। Master’s thesis individual বা two-author pair হতে পারে যদি প্রত্যেকের contribution independently assessable থাকে।

Originality-এর responsibility student-এর। Final grading-এর আগে response এবং assessment process একবার interrupt করার right আছে। এই regulation-level right LAGIC-এর detailed preliminary/final review workflow-এর সঙ্গে apply করে।

Data collection-এর আগে personal data plan করুন

LAGIC research-এ interview, recording, online communication, multilingual interaction, institutional document বা living person-এর সঙ্গে connected material common হতে পারে। JYU identifiable living person সম্পর্কে information-কে personal data হিসেবে দেখে, এবং re-identification possible হলে pseudonymised material-ও personal data থাকে।

Collection-এর আগে decide করুন কোন personal data necessary, processing-এর legal/ethical basis কী, participant-কে কীভাবে inform করবেন, data কোথায় থাকবে, কার access থাকবে এবং identifier কখন remove বা data destroy হবে।

Ethics review conditional, ethical responsibility continuous

JYU Human Sciences Ethics Committee TENK principles follow করে। People involve করলেই every study-এর prior committee review automatic নয়। TENK criterion review require করলে committee review নিতে হবে। Prior committee statement না লাগলেও thesis author research ethics-এর জন্য responsible থাকে।

LAGIC-এ power relation, vulnerable participant, sensitive identity/migration information, multilingual consent, recording, online community এবং quoted discourse দিয়ে ব্যক্তি expose হওয়ার risk carefully consider করুন।

Living Data Management Plan use করুন

JYU university-তে করা research project-এর জন্য Data Management Plan require করে। DMP collection/creation, processing, storage, documentation, publication, archiving/disposal, legal/ethical issue, rights, metadata, integrity, role ও resource cover করে।

Actual project change হলে DMP update করুন। Planned interview study পরে platform data, translation file বা collaborative coding include করতে পারে। Data plan proposal stage-এর expectation নয়, বাস্তবে যা করছেন তা reflect করবে।

AI: JYU ও department দুটো instruction check করুন

JYU university-wide rule studies-এ AI-based application teacher/unit instruction-এর subject হিসেবে allow করে, কিন্তু AI output scientific source নয়। Submitted content-এর responsibility student-এর, scholarly claim original source দিয়ে check করতে হয় এবং relevant generative-AI use disclose করতে হয়। Linguistic presentation নিজেই assessed হলে AI use করা যায় না।

Current LAGIC thesis page আলাদা Department of Language and Communication Studies AI guidance PDF-ও link করে। তাই thesis work-এ AI use করার আগে current JYU rule এবং department guidance দুটোই check করুন।

Citation: consistency required, APA universal নয়

JYU অন্যের idea paraphrase বা direct quote করলে citation require করে এবং এক citation style consistently use করতে বলে। Current citation page Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of Language and Communication Studies এবং LAGIC-কে general instruction follow করতে বলে।

এই current source every LAGIC thesis-এর জন্য universal APA requirement establish করে না। Supervisor, seminar বা current programme material expected style confirm করে consistently use করুন।

Accessibility ও final PDF/A

Final Vasara submission accessible PDF/A হওয়া উচিত এবং JYU accessibility guidance public online thesis-এ apply করে। Writing-এর সময় থেকেই accessibility build করুন: true heading style, meaningful link text, readable table, প্রয়োজনীয় alternative text ও logical document structure use করুন।

Faculty thesis template structural consistency-তে সাহায্য করতে পারে, কিন্তু final submission-এর আগে accessibility আলাদাভাবে check করতে হবে।

Public thesis ও confidential background material

JYU master’s thesis public document এবং approved work JYX-এ stored হয়। Partner organisation confidential background material দিলে evaluation-এর জন্য submitted thesis থেকে তা remove করতে হবে। Private collaboration agreement assessed thesis-কে confidential বানাতে পারে না।

Writing-এর আগেই boundary plan করুন। প্রয়োজন হলে protected background material public thesis-এর বাইরে রাখুন এবং শুধু lawfully/ethically publish করা যায় এমন information report করুন।

Approval-এর পরে JYX durable public record

LAGIC thesis approve ও evaluate হওয়ার পরে grade Sisu-তে register হয় এবং approved thesis automatically JYX-এ saved হয়। JYU publication guidance অনুযায়ী JYX-এ stored approved thesis simply new version দিয়ে replace করা যায় না। Post-approval correction approved errata process দিয়ে হয়।

তাই Vasara-এর আগে final check গুরুত্বপূর্ণ: title, abstract, keyword, reference, table, appendix, confidentiality boundary, accessibility ও metadata carefully review করুন।

Practical LAGIC thesis sequence

Practical sequence হতে পারে: KVVS012 দিয়ে qualitative competence এবং KVVS013 দিয়ে quantitative competence তৈরি করুন, তারপর LACS1000-এ topic narrow, research proposal/work plan develop, supervisor identify এবং thesis design test করুন। Research-oriented report, literature review বা multiform thesis-এর মধ্যে appropriate form choose করুন। Material collect করার আগে ethics, personal data ও DMP requirement resolve করুন।

Seminar ও supervisor feedback দিয়ে LACS1002 develop করুন। সব chapter এবং required front/back matter complete হলে preliminary review ও Turnitin stage-এ যান। Supervisor ready বলার আগ পর্যন্ত revise করুন। তারপর final accessible PDF/A Vasara-তে formal examination-এর জন্য submit করুন।

Final LAGIC submission checklist

Final submission-এর আগে confirm করুন formal thesis LACS1002 30 ECTS, seminar LACS1000 5 ECTS, maturity LACS9999 0 ECTS Pass/Fail এবং KVVS012/KVVS013 study plan অনুযায়ী handled। Chosen thesis form supported form কি না এবং method/perspective justified কি না check করুন।

Preliminary review complete, Turnitin handled, supervisor manuscript ready বলেছেন, Sisu registration correct, PDF/A accessible, confidential material removed, citation consistent, AI use JYU ও department guidance অনুযায়ী, এবং ethics/data-management obligation satisfied কি না verify করুন। Similar দেখায় বলে অন্য programme-এর thesis code বা review rule import করবেন না।
