Aalto University Civil Engineering Master’s Thesis Guide: 2026–2028 Curriculum-এর বাংলা সংস্করণ

Aalto University-এর Master’s Programme in Civil Engineering হলো School of Engineering পরিচালিত 120 ECTS, দুই-year Master of Science (Technology) programme। Current 2026–2028 curriculum-এ degree structure হলো 60 ECTS major studies, 30 ECTS Master’s thesis এবং 30 ECTS elective studies।

Programme-এর scope বেশ broad: structural engineering, building performance, construction management, mineral-based materials, এবং structural/computational mechanics and engineering। তাই Civil Engineering thesis-এর জন্য একটিমাত্র universal method নেই। Project experimental, theoretical, computational, design-oriented, management-focused বা mixed হতে পারে।

এই guide শুধুমাত্র 27 August 2026-এ verified current public Aalto sources-এর ওপর ভিত্তি করে তৈরি। Aalto স্পষ্টভাবে বলে যে detailed School of Engineering Master’s Thesis Guide একটি login-required MyCourses workspace-এ আছে। তাই public source-এ নেই এমন ENG rule অন্য school থেকে ধরে এনে এখানে বসানো হয়নি।

Degree structure এবং thesis-এর জায়গা

Current structure:

• 60 ECTS major studies;
• 30 ECTS Master’s thesis;
• 30 ECTS elective studies।

60 ECTS major-এর মধ্যে 20 ECTS compulsory এবং 40 ECTS advanced optional studies। Curriculum-এ structural design, mechanics, building physics, indoor environment, construction management, concrete/mineral-based materials, fire engineering, simulation, bridge design, steel/timber structures, energy-efficient buildings এবং related topics আছে।

Applicant-facing page বলে common এবং advanced courses thesis-এর আগে complete করার জন্য intended। Current curriculum thesis-কে second study year-এর spring semester-এ recommend করে এবং topic search তার আগেই শুরু করতে বলে।

এর অর্থ second year spring পর্যন্ত অপেক্ষা করা নয়। Company project বা specialised research topic চাইলে earlier discussion practical।

30 ECTS thesis entity-এর মধ্যে কী আছে

Aalto Civil Engineering Master’s thesis-কে 30-credit entity হিসেবে describe করে। Public thesis page অনুযায়ী এর মধ্যে থাকে:

• thesis;
• maturity test;
• thesis presentation।

এখানে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ boundary হলো, current public curriculum কোনো separate extra thesis-seminar ECTS publish করে না। তাই presentation requirement-কে আলাদা invented credit হিসেবে দেখানো যাবে না।

Aalto thesis-টিকে applied research বলে। Key goal হলো field-এর relevant problem existing scientific knowledge ব্যবহার করে এবং responsible conduct of research follow করে solve করা।

Company-এর জন্য কাজ হলেও thesis শুধু technical report বা professional deliverable নয়। Research/development problem, defensible method, evidence, analysis এবং academic conclusion থাকতে হবে।

Topic নির্বাচন

Topic advanced studies-এর সঙ্গে related হতে হবে এবং topic-এ specialised supervisor-এর সঙ্গে agree করতে হবে।

Current curriculum বলে programme-এর professors তাদের current research activities-এর সঙ্গে connected thesis topic দিতে পারেন। Student নিজের topic-ও proposed supervisor-এর কাছে suggest করতে পারে।

Possible context হতে পারে:

• structural engineering/design;
• concrete, steel, timber structures;
• bridge engineering;

• building physics, indoor environment, energy performance;

এগুলো mandatory category নয়। Method research problem অনুযায়ী ঠিক হবে। Laboratory materials thesis experimental হতে পারে, mechanics thesis modelling-heavy হতে পারে, construction-management thesis organisational/project data use করতে পারে।

Supervisor এবং advisor eligibility

Current 2026–2028 curriculum supervisor eligibility প্রকাশ করে। School of Engineering-এ supervisor হতে পারেন:

• Professor;
• Adjunct Professor;
• Professor of Practice;
• Senior University Lecturer;
• Principal University Lecturer।

Advisor-এর কমপক্ষে Master’s degree থাকতে হবে।

Supervisor শুধু final proofreader নন। Topic fit, academic scope এবং advanced studies-এর সঙ্গে relationship early stage-এই clarify করা দরকার। Advisor technical বা company-specific guidance দিতে পারেন, কিন্তু academic thesis-এর standard Aalto degree requirements-এর অধীনেই থাকে।

Company এবং external thesis

Aalto Civil Engineering-এ industry collaboration খুব common। Current applicant page অনুযায়ী প্রায় two-thirds Master’s theses external parties-এর জন্য, mainly companies-এর জন্য লেখা হয়।

তাই company thesis normal, কিন্তু academic standard আলাদা নয়। Company practical problem, data, equipment, site access, software বা project context দিতে পারে। Thesis-কে তারপরও advanced studies-এর সঙ্গে related academic problem address করতে হবে।

External topic নেওয়ার আগে discuss করা উচিত:

• 30 ECTS thesis-এর জন্য academic scope যথেষ্ট কি না;
• কোন data public academic work-এ ব্যবহার করা যাবে;
• IP/publication issue আছে কি না;
• day-to-day technical guidance কে দেবেন;

Public Civil sources কোনো programme-wide confidential-thesis exception দেয় না। Commercially sensitive project হলে current ENG instructions এবং supervisor-এর সঙ্গে publication/confidentiality issue early resolve করতে হবে।

MyStudies thesis management

Aalto Master’s thesis management MyStudies-এ চালায়। Student thesis শুরু করার সময় basic information enter করে এবং supervisor approval apply করে।

Thesis record-এ topic, supervisor এবং advisor information থাকে। Technology schools-এর current process-এ, যার মধ্যে ENG আছে, supervisor topic এবং advisors approve করেন। Starting details-এর approval আর degree programme committee-এর কাজ নয়।

Final thesis-ও evaluation, approval এবং archiving-এর জন্য thesis-management workflow দিয়ে submit হয়।

তাই MyStudies-কে শুধু final upload location ভাবা উচিত নয়। ENG MyCourses instructions দেখে topic/supervision agree করে, thesis record তৈরি করে এবং required approval complete করতে হবে।

Publicly আমরা নিশ্চিতভাবে বলতে পারি: 30 ECTS scope, applied-research purpose, presentation, maturity test, supervisor/advisor eligibility, MyStudies framework এবং published deadlines। কিন্তু সব internal ENG form, model schedule, evaluation detail বা formatting rule public নয়।

তাই এই guide invent করছে না:

• universal page count বা word count;
• compulsory chapter template;
• একটিমাত্র citation style;
• fixed supervisor-meeting count;
• CHEM-এর 800-hour/five-month rule;

Research problem planning

Aalto-এর public definition অনুযায়ী thesis field-relevant problem existing scientific knowledge-এর ভিত্তিতে solve করবে।

তাই শুরুতে শুধু “আমি কী design/test/calculate করব?” প্রশ্ন না করে জিজ্ঞেস করা ভালো: “আমি কোন problem understand বা solve করতে চাই, এবং কোন evidence answer justify করবে?”

Structural project load behaviour, design comparison, numerical modelling বা material response নিয়ে হতে পারে। Building-performance thesis indoor environment, energy বা fire behaviour নিয়ে হতে পারে। Construction-management thesis process, operations বা decision-making নিয়ে হতে পারে। Materials thesis measurable properties, durability বা testing নিয়ে হতে পারে।

Method field অনুযায়ী বদলাবে। Important হলো problem, literature, method, evidence, analysis এবং conclusion-এর alignment।

Literature এবং responsible research

Thesis-এর অন্য অংশে AI

Current Aalto AI guidance অনুযায়ী teacher/assessment restrict না করলে AI learning support করতে পারে। কিন্তু submitted content-এর responsibility student-এর। Unmodified AI-generated text নিজের লেখা হিসেবে submit করা যাবে না।

Thesis-এ AI engineering judgment, source verification, calculations, data analysis বা conclusions-এর responsibility replace করতে পারে না। Brainstorming, language support বা code assistance-এর মতো permitted use থাকলেও current Aalto এবং supervisor guidance follow করতে হবে।

Maturity test-এর rule stricter: সেখানে AI prohibited।

Current public thesis-evaluation deadlines

Civil Engineering thesis page বর্তমানে 2026 cycle-এর evaluation deadlines publish করে। Public dates-এর মধ্যে আছে:

• 23 February 2026 → Committee 9 March;
• 27 April 2026 → Committee 18 May;
• 25 May 2026 → Committee 15 June;
• 31 July 2026 → Committee 17 August;
• 28 September 2026 → Committee 19 October;
• 23 November 2026 → Committee 14 December;
• 31 December 2026 → Committee January 2027।

31 July deadline-এর জন্য Aalto summer holiday warning দেয় এবং supervisor-এর সঙ্গে early schedule agree করতে বলে। 31 December-এর ক্ষেত্রেও holiday-season caution আছে।

Early preparation
