Aalto University Automation and Electrical Engineering Master’s Thesis Guide: 30 ECTS, ELEC-E0210 এবং 2027 Deadlines

Aalto University-এর Master’s Programme in Automation and Electrical Engineering (AEE) হলো School of Electrical Engineering-এর 120 ECTS Master of Science (Technology) programme। Current 2026-2028 curriculum-এ তিনটি major আছে: Control, Robotics and Autonomous Systems (CRAS), Electrical Power and Energy Engineering (EPEE), এবং Electronic and Digital Systems (EDS)।

Research topic-এর দিক থেকে major তিনটি অনেক আলাদা, কিন্তু thesis administration একই। তিন major-এই 65 ECTS major structure, separate 2 ECTS ELEC-E0210 Master's Thesis Process, এবং একই programme-level thesis workflow আছে। তাই administrative rules-এর জন্য একটি programme-level guide যথেষ্ট এবং accurate।

Formal thesis 30 ECTS। Current curriculum-এ standard code ELEC.thes এবং maturity entry ELEC.matr, 0 ECTS। তবে supervisor যদি অন্য school বা department থেকে হন, final thesis code supervisor-এর school/department অনুযায়ী পরিবর্তিত হতে পারে।

Degree structure এবং separate thesis-process course

পুরো degree 120 ECTS: 65 ECTS major studies, 30 ECTS master’s thesis এবং 25 ECTS elective studies। তিনটি current major-এই ELEC-E0210 Master's Thesis Process, 2 ECTS listed।

এই 2 ECTS course thesis-এর 30 ECTS-এর অংশ নয়। Thesis-কে 32 ECTS বলা ঠিক হবে না। ELEC-E0210 thesis শুরু, research planning এবং process management support করে, কিন্তু assessed thesis ELEC.thes 30 ECTS-ই থাকে।

Current majors-এ ELEC-E0110 Academic Skills in Master's Studies, 3 ECTS-ও listed। এটি thesis-এর academic reasoning, engineering judgement এবং communication skill-এর প্রস্তুতিতে সহায়ক।

Thesis হলো six-month research project

Aalto master’s thesis-কে advanced studies-এর সঙ্গে related individual research project হিসেবে বর্ণনা করে। এটি written report হিসেবে document করতে হয় এবং existing scientific knowledge, good engineering/scientific practice, ethical principles এবং proper academic source use অনুসরণ করতে হয়।

Target duration six months full-time এবং 30 ECTS-এর workload average প্রায় 810 hours। Justified reason থাকলে supervisor-এর সঙ্গে অন্য timeline agree করা যায়। Agreed target-এর বেশি সময় নিলে grading-এ প্রভাব পড়তে পারে।

Actual thesis start হলো student এবং supervisor যে সময় project officially শুরু হয়েছে বলে agree করেন। MyStudies-এর পরে হওয়া administrative approval date নিজে thesis start date নয়।

Thesis কখন করা হয়

Two-year model-এ thesis সাধারণত second-year spring-এ রাখা হয়েছে, কিন্তু Aalto স্পষ্টভাবে বলে এটি restriction নয়। Topic, supervision, study schedule বা practical research arrangement অনুযায়ী অন্য সময়েও thesis করা যায়।

Model schedule useful কারণ এটি main research period-এর আগেই topic search, MyStudies planning এবং supervision setup করতে বলে। Sixth month-এ final review, seminar presentation এবং submission plan করা হয়।

Aalto standard two-year model-এর মধ্যে 31 July-কে শেষ possible deadline বলে। কিন্তু এটিকে annual একমাত্র thesis deadline বলা যাবে না। School of Electrical Engineering বছরে একাধিক Degree Programme Committee-linked thesis deadline publish করে।

Thesis শুরুর prerequisite

Thesis শুরু করার আগে অন্তত Bachelor’s degree completed এবং Sisu study plan approved থাকতে হবে। Thesis degree plan-এর শেষ research-stage attainment, তাই Sisu structure-এর বাইরে independent project হিসেবে handle করা উচিত নয়।

Supervisor অন্য school থেকে হলে বা graduation একই সময়ে plan করলে study plan এবং thesis code আগেই verify করা আরও গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।

Preliminary MyStudies record তৈরি করুন

Programme MyStudies-এর Thesis tab ব্যবহার করে। Final topic বা supervision formally approve হওয়ার আগেও preliminary thesis plan তৈরি করা যায়।

Initial record-এ degree programme, preliminary topic এবং language, জানা থাকলে supervisor/advisor, planned start/end date, এবং company/university/other commissioner সম্পর্কিত information রাখা যায়। Initial topic পরে পরিবর্তন হতে পারে।

Aalto-এর goal হলো second-year ELEC students autumn term-এর মধ্যে basic thesis-plan information MyStudies-এ add করবে এবং update রাখবে। তবে final topic এবং supervision agree হওয়ার আগে preliminary record formal approval-এ পাঠানো উচিত নয়।

Thesis language এবং degree language

AEE multilingual programme। Major-গুলোর primary teaching language English হলেও thesis English, Finnish বা Swedish-এ লেখা যায়। Thesis-এর language degree-এর primary language নির্ধারণ করে।

Language early decide করলে template, abstract, supervision এবং maturity requirement plan করা সহজ হয়।

তিন major-এর মধ্যে topic খোঁজা

Topic খোঁজার প্রধান দায়িত্ব student-এর। সব AEE topic-এর একক universal list নেই। Common route হলো company/public-sector position, Aalto research group, অথবা independently proposed topic যা suitable supervisor-এর সঙ্গে agree করা হয়।

CRAS thesis-এ control, robotics, autonomous systems, machine perception বা industrial software থাকতে পারে। EPEE thesis-এ power systems, electric drives, power electronics, renewable integration, storage, hydrogen বা smart buildings থাকতে পারে। EDS thesis-এ embedded systems, sensors, health technology, signal processing, intelligent electronics বা hardware/software co-design থাকতে পারে।

তাই পুরো programme-এর জন্য একটি compulsory method নেই। Research question অনুযায়ী experiment, measurement, simulation, modelling, optimisation, control design, software, data analysis বা hardware prototyping ব্যবহার হতে পারে।

Topic না পেলে কী হবে

Student topic search-এর দায়িত্বে থাকলেও programme safety net দেয়। Student thesis শুরু করার জন্য ready কিন্তু normal route-এ topic পায়নি, এমন অবস্থায় School-কে independent master’s thesis topic arrange করতে হবে।

তবুও relevant professors এবং research groups-এর সঙ্গে active communication রাখা প্রয়োজন। Topic search দীর্ঘ হলে major responsible professor বা Learning Services-এর সাহায্য নেওয়া উচিত।

Supervisor এবং advisor rules

Supervisor হতে পারেন Aalto professor, university lecturer, অথবা ELEC-এ কর্মরত Aalto staff/senior scientist। Supervisor thesis-এর scientific validity, academic format এবং overall quality-এর দায়িত্বে থাকেন।

Thesis-এ one or two advisors থাকতে হবে এবং advisor-এর অন্তত master’s degree থাকতে হবে। Company thesis-এ advisor প্রায়ই day-to-day technical work, experiment, implementation, system/data access এবং writing feedback support করেন। Supervisor advisor হিসেবেও কাজ করতে পারেন।

Topic advanced studies-এর সঙ্গে related থাকলে supervisor অন্য Aalto school থেকেও হতে পারেন। তবে এর ফলে thesis code supervisor-এর school/department অনুযায়ী বদলাতে পারে।

Outside-ELEC supervisor হলে thesis code check করুন

Current curriculum standard 30 ECTS code হিসেবে ELEC.thes দেখায়। Graduation page বলছে thesis code supervisor-এর school/department-এর সঙ্গে correspond করতে হবে।

Common examples হিসেবে ELEC.thes ELEC supervisor-এর জন্য, Men.thes Department of Mechanical Engineering-এর জন্য এবং CS.thes Department of Computer Science-এর জন্য দেওয়া আছে। অন্য department হলে supervisor এবং Learning Services-এর সঙ্গে correct code confirm করা উচিত।

Academic thesis ঠিক থাকলেও wrong code Sisu/graduation problem তৈরি করতে পারে, তাই এটি final week পর্যন্ত ফেলে রাখা উচিত নয়।

Topic idea থেকে formal approval

Company topic-এর ক্ষেত্রে Aalto প্রথমে short preliminary plan recommend করে। এই stage-এ plan maximum one page হতে পারে এবং proposed topic, research problem, motivation/goal, possible methodology বা experimental implementation এবং preliminary content outline রাখে।

Topic এবং supervision agree হলে MyStudies-এ supervisor, advisor(s) এবং topic approval apply করতে হয়। Final title পরে refine করা যায়, কিন্তু approved field-এর মধ্যে থাকতে হবে।

Applications continuously process হয় এবং fixed topic-approval deadline নেই। তবে processing up to one month লাগতে পারে। তাই final thesis submission-এর at least one month আগে formal approval application দিতে হবে। Approved supervisor/advisor/topic ছাড়া final thesis evaluation-এ submit করা যাবে না।

Initial meeting এবং ELEC-E0210

Project শুরুতে student, supervisor এবং প্রয়োজন হলে advisors-এর initial meeting করা উচিত। এখানে research problem, scope, milestones, six-month target, feedback schedule, research resources, confidentiality, seminar timing এবং final committee deadline agree করা ভালো।

তিন major-এই ELEC-E0210 Master's Thesis Process, 2 ECTS compulsory current course হিসেবে listed। Course thesis start এবং research-plan preparation support করে। Topic এবং supervision যথেষ্ট clear হওয়ার পর current Sisu/MyCourses instructions অনুযায়ী register করা উচিত। Summer implementation-এ restriction থাকতে পারে।

Assessed course tasks-এর জন্য পুরোনো checklist নয়, live MyCourses instructions follow করা প্রয়োজন।

Research plan তৈরি করা

Public ELEC page 2–3 page research-plan model দেয়। এতে research problem/questions, state of the art, methodology, milestones/monthly schedule এবং প্রায় 5–10 preliminary references থাকে।

AEE thesis-এ plan শুধু form নয়। Robotics project-এ evaluation criteria, power-system work-এ assumptions ও validation, embedded-system work-এ performance/reliability/sensing criteria আগে থেকে clear করা দরকার।

Writing এবং thesis format

Aalto LaTeX এবং Microsoft Word thesis template দেয় এবং current ELEC page LaTeX recommend করে। Template institutional structure support করে, research contribution define করে না।

Current public AEE instructions তিন major-এর জন্য একক page count বা word count দেয় না। Control theory, grid simulation, power-electronics experiment বা embedded-device thesis-এর evidence structure আলাদা হতে পারে। তাই অন্য school-এর page range copy করা উচিত নয়।

Supervisor এবং strong disciplinary examples দেখে literature, method, implementation, results এবং discussion-এর balance ঠিক করতে হবে।

Turnitin drafting phase থেকেই ব্যবহার করুন

Final MyStudies submission-এর আগে Turnitin similarity report generate, review এবং প্রয়োজনীয় correction করতে হবে। Aalto drafting period জুড়ে Turnitin use করতে recommend করে।

Final submission-এ MyStudies automatically similarity report তৈরি করে যা student এবং supervisor দুজনই দেখতে পারে। একই সঙ্গে AI report supervisor-এর জন্য তৈরি হয়। Final upload তাই trial submission নয়।

Supervisor/advisor-এর MyCourses Turnitin workspace ব্যবহার করলে report interpretation নিয়ে guidance পাওয়া সহজ হয়। Draft-এর জন্য independent student workspace-ও আছে।

AI use এবং maturity boundary

AEE thesis page generic ‘AI allowed’ statement-এর চেয়ে specific। AI mainly text/structure clarify এবং paraphrasing-এর জন্য ব্যবহার করতে বলে, এবং student-এর keywords, themes বা ideas থেকে thesis text generate করতে নিষেধ করে। AI research বা writing-এ ব্যবহার হলে transparency এবং supervisor awareness দরকার।

University-wide rule অনুযায়ী submitted content-এর দায়িত্ব student-এর এবং unmodified AI-generated text নিজের লেখা হিসেবে দেওয়া যাবে না। সবচেয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ boundary হলো maturity exams-এ AI prohibited।

AEE-তে thesis abstract maturity essay হিসেবে কাজ করে। তাই assessed abstract-এর ক্ষেত্রে general thesis AI allowance নয়, no-AI maturity rule follow করতে হবে।

Public thesis এবং company confidentiality

Approved master’s thesis public document এবং confidential section রাখা যাবে না। Company trade secret, internal data বা confidential materials evaluated thesis-এর বাইরে background material হিসেবে রাখতে হবে অথবা public coherent analysis-এ transform করতে হবে।

Aaltodoc-এ full text online publish করার consent আলাদা বিষয়। Full text direct download না দিলেও thesis confidential হয় না। Metadata এবং abstract publicly available থাকে এবং thesis university process-এর মাধ্যমে request করা যায়।

Company thesis হলে এই distinction project শুরুতেই agree করা উচিত।

Compulsory seminar presentation এবং maturity essay

Thesis-এর seminar presentation compulsory। Schedule এবং arrangements supervisor-এর সঙ্গে agree করতে হয়। Approval application-এর সময় presentation হয়ে গেছে কি না অথবা planned date দিতে হয়।

Presentation relevant thesis/graduation deadline-এর মধ্যে complete করতে হবে। Evaluation-এর সময় supervisor MyStudies-এ presentation completion mark করেন।

Thesis abstract-ই maturity essay। Template instructions অনুযায়ী abstract complete হলে separate maturity essay দরকার হয় না। একই কারণে maturity component-এ current no-AI rule apply করে।

Final MyStudies submission

Final approval-এর আগে supervisor/advisor/topic already approved থাকতে হবে। Thesis PDF/A করতে হবে, file 100 MB-এর নিচে রাখতে হবে, required MyStudies information complete করতে হবে এবং Turnitin conditions accept করতে হবে।

Submitted electronic file final corrected version হওয়া উচিত। Submission-এর পর thesis আর modify করা যায় না। Supervisor evaluation statement এবং grade proposal দেন, এরপর Degree Programme Committee final evaluation ও grade decision নেয়। Statement এবং decision MyStudies-এ পাওয়া যায় এবং appeal process available।

Confirmed 2027 thesis-evaluation deadlines

Current AEE thesis page 2027 committee cycle-এর আটটি deadline দিয়েছে:

• 31 December 2026 → 25 January 2027;
• 17 February 2027 → 8 March;
• 21 April 2027 → 17 May;
• 26 May 2027 → 14 June;
• 30 July 2027 → 23 August;
• 22 September 2027 → 11 October;
• 17 November 2027 → 7 December;
• 31 December 2027 → January 2028।

Final planning-এর আগে live Aalto page recheck করা উচিত কারণ cycle-sensitive dates পরিবর্তিত হতে পারে।

Graduation-only date-কে thesis deadline ভাববেন না

Graduation page-এ 27 January, 24 March, 23 June, 25 August এবং 20 October 2027-এর মতো additional date আছে। কিন্তু সেখানে স্পষ্টভাবে বলা হয়েছে এগুলো শুধুমাত্র তাদের জন্য যাদের thesis already approved এবং Sisu-তে registered, এবং ঐ date-এ Degree Programme Committee meeting নেই।

তাই এগুলো additional thesis-evaluation deadline নয়। Thesis এখনও approval প্রয়োজন হলে real committee-linked deadline ব্যবহার করতে হবে।

Sisu-এর মাধ্যমে graduation

Graduation Sisu-তে আলাদা action। অন্য required courses complete এবং registered থাকলে thesis ও maturity evaluation-এর জন্য submit করার সঙ্গে graduation request-ও দেওয়া যায়।

Graduation-এর আগে personal study plan valid ও approved, thesis code supervisor-এর school/department অনুযায়ী correct, এবং student attending হিসেবে registered থাকতে হবে। MyStudies-এ thesis upload করলেই Sisu graduation request automatically হয় না।

MyStudies thesis administration/evaluation-এর system, আর Sisu degree plan/graduation-এর system হিসেবে আলাদা role রাখে।

Practical six-month workflow

Month 1-এর আগে preliminary MyStudies record update, topic areas identify, supervisor contact এবং company/lab practicalities resolve করুন। Month 1-এ topic/supervision agree, initial meeting, ELEC-E0210 registration, research plan এবং formal MyStudies approval submit করুন।

Months 2–4-এ research, experiment, measurement, simulation, modelling, software বা hardware work এবং continuous writing করুন। Month 5-এ results, interpretation, conclusion এবং Turnitin review করুন। Month 6-এ corrections, seminar presentation, maturity abstract, PDF/A validation এবং intended committee deadline-এর আগে final submission করুন।

Supervisor outside ELEC হলে early stage-এই correct thesis code confirm করুন। Graduation week পর্যন্ত অপেক্ষা করবেন না।

Final checklist

Final submission-এর আগে confirm করুন: current 2026-2028 AEE structure follow করছেন; ELEC-E0210 30 ECTS thesis থেকে separate; supervisor/advisor/topic approved; thesis code supervisor-এর school/department-এর সঙ্গে correct; method actual technical question-এর জন্য suitable; confidential information public thesis-এর বাইরে; Turnitin reviewed; AI use transparent এবং maturity abstract no-AI rule follow করে; seminar presentation complete; PDF/A file 100 MB-এর নিচে; deadline real committee-linked thesis deadline; এবং eligible হলে separate Sisu graduation request complete।

Main planning principle হলো AEE thesis-কে six-month research project plus disciplined administration হিসেবে দেখা। Major তিনটি intellectually আলাদা, কিন্তু MyStudies, ELEC-E0210, approval, Turnitin, presentation, maturity, PDF/A, committee grading এবং graduation boundaries shared।
